Flat Chested Blues

by on January 4, 2010

I recently received an e-mail from a teenage girl who is fourteen years old and was upset because she’s flat chested. It seems like an appropriate thing to answer as many girls at this age are very self conscious about their bodies and feel like they are the only ones going through these feelings – just know, you definitely are not alone!

As a girl, when you start entering your teens years, your body begins to undergo tremendous changes. Nothing new – most of us have already probably had some education as to what puberty is all about. What most girls don’t realize is that these changes that the body goes through will vary from female to female; for some women the changes will occur quite quickly with very noticeable results while for others the changes occur much more slowly and are harder to recognize thereby making the process seem that much more slower to occur.

Developing breast tissue that can be easily noticeable can happen well past the ages of sixteen and there are many females who say they didn’t even see results until they were just entering college. You need to realize that as a young teenager appearing small chested is normal. Take a look at a lot of the girls that you consider your peers and you will most likely see that most girls are in the same boat as you as opposed to the glamorized, over the top bodies you might see on television or in the movies. Remember that a lot of the women who are in the movies or tv shows that you watch are typically in their late teens or early twenties and already have had a chance to develop.

Now, if after reading this you are still unhappy with your body, why don’t you ask yourself the following questions. Make sure to have a piece of paper and write down the answers to each question after taking the time to reflect.

* Why should having larger breasts be important to you?
* Has a person made you feel that your breasts are too small?
* Have you been rejected by a person because of your breast size?

I think you’ll find that when answering these questions you’ll see that perhaps there really is no rush to have your body develop and that the way you are is just fine.

Also as a note, there are plenty of beautiful women who are considered to be small chested. Just look at such celebrities like Alexis Bledel, Natalie Portman, Kate Hudson, Keira Knightly… the list goes on.
